Networking and discussion evening on feminist leadership and climate change

Given that climate justice and gender justice are closely intertwined, this evening brings together a range of voices to explore how feminist leadership can inspire meaningful climate action and sustainable change.

Drawing on personal experiences, research and perspectives from different generations and contexts, we will explore together what feminist leadership means in practice — and how it can help us build more just and resilient communities.

Faïda Andreita Mbuluku, a researcher at UCLouvain, offers a committed perspective on the need to place gender at the heart of research into and the transformation of our food systems. Drawing on her work on women’s agency in the areas of land tenure and agroecology, she demonstrates how feminist leadership can help pave the way for fairer and more sustainable change. Bintou Traoré, national coordinator of Join For Water in Mali, shares her experiences in the areas of freshwater protection, social-ecological resilience and women’s empowerment, emphasising the importance of gender equality and social inclusion in climate action.

The voices of young people are also central to the discussion. Sara and Linda, members of Plan International Belgium’s Youth Advisory Panel, will share their experiences and views on girls and the climate crisis, adding an important intergenerational dimension to the debate.

Kiki Berkers from 11.11.11 will lead the discussion and bring the various viewpoints together to create a fascinating and lively exchange.
